Poem emulation

I see America’s lips move but she is inaudible.
Columbia sits pretty but without a voice she’s just a phase of untouchable beauty.
The citizen of colored blood works an eternity to give her a chance to be more and to be given a chance to dream in return.
Her lovers soon fear she will make calls of rejection.
Lovers soon want nothing more but to keep colored blood out.
They make movements of violence and vengeance,
They claim it all to be in the name of their beloved and her purity.
They state they claimed her first,
They go as far as to state she could call for the same!
If only she had the vocal chords to speak her melodious words of resentment.

What does it mean to be american?

Being an American means to be in an undecided state of mind. I mean it’s always been stated that living in America is a dream since we have so many “privileges” and while most of that may be true it sometimes really doesn’t feel like it. It’s not as rough as other countries which makes everything look for granted. Being American means to take pride in yourself and what you do but this task is hard to do when you don’t know what you want to do or even know yourself. It’s wanting to take pride in an abyss, something that’s either there or always manifesting into something else. The “American Life” is trying to look for support. We spend our time looking for something to do, something that can grant us happiness and a feeling of comfort. The way in which form support comes to us could matter less whether it’s a person, the government, a job, healthcare and so on we spend our time looking for this and all the while trying to be proud of who we are as people and the states in which we are in. This support we look for in ourselves and other outlets are like basic needs for our personalities and our emotion of pride which we try and never stop trying to feed. It’s hard because it feels like we can’t control who we are and the possibilities of what we could be which is undecided until it actually happens.

the little prince project

Our little prince project represents systems and how some systems may affect other systems. For instance the system of time affects the system of consumerism. People want to save time so badly that they fall into buying products that are supposed to" give you more energy and give you hours of spare time"  but, these products are useless because even without coffee, energy drinks, and pills you can still get the same amount of things done. The theater part of the project symbolizes life and how just like a play it takes certain events to be set up to happen and get done.

DESECRATES EXISTENTIALISM- FEBRUARY 1st, 2017

In the context of Rene Descartes' philosophical views, perceiving is related to the senses (sight, hearing, taste, touch, and smell) and how these 5 senses are deemed as irrefutable truths due to how we perceive things by intuition. Perception on the other hand carries doubts with it and these doubts are not irrefutable truths since instead of intuition it's reasoning influenced by authority and tradition.

Ela Blog Post #5- Abstraction

Our groups abstraction art piece represents the conflict that came with Harambe's tragic death. We represented this event with the color pallete we chose which consisted of dark shades of green, blue, gray, yellow, and black. Each individual color meant/represented something or someone for example the spiral shapes of green represent how the Cincinnati Zoo tried to replicate Harambe's natural habitat and how it would never really be "natural". The black boarder represents how caged his habitat actually was and how angered animal activist were about this. The blue swirls represent the people that were present during this accident and the yellow specks represent the memes that expressed everyone's happiness as well as sadness towards Harambe. Finally in the center there is a black "void" to represent the meme, the legend, and source of not only my happiness but my other group member's happiness as well, Harambe.

"I think, therefore I am"-Reflection- Blog Post #4

After further reading Descartes’ work and exploring his philosophical views his first principle “Cogito Ergo Sum” (“I think, therefore I am”) has a much deeper meaning but yet simple in a way as well. After going over terms such as perception, perceiving, and irrefutable truths Descartes’ principle refers to his way of deeming whether something is really an irrefutable truth or a doubt through perception as well as intuition. The principle itself as well as his work states the senses can not be trusted since they can trick us but they are irrefutable since it’s by intuition our senses act/sense a certain thing. This intuition is immediate knowledge of a thing rather than reasoning. Thinking is intuitive to Descartes, it’s what makes a huge part of his personality and character due to this intuition he/his existence is irrefutable.
